The Little Girl is here!

December 2007

We gladly announce the release of The Little Girl, finally in our hands after four years of work! We were pushing to have the book ready in time for Christmas. An error at the printer slowed it up, but we will do our very best to mail it as soon as we receive orders, in hopes of getting the book to you in time if you would like to give it as a Christmas gift. This is a limited release, available only through our website, New Earth Enterprises. It will be more widely available after its official release in April 2008.

This year, some of our Advent musings have been from Revelation 12, a rather untraditional Christmas passage.

The apostle John sees a disturbing vision. A pregnant woman is about to give birth. An enormous red dragon stands in front of her, waiting to devour her child the moment it is born. She gives birth to a son - a son who will rule all the nations. He is snatched up to God before the dragon can devour him.

And then? “There was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back.”

It is a peek behind the curtain, a glimpse of the cosmic battle raging behind the sweet nativity scenes of donkey and manger, shepherds and magi. Later in the chapter, John tells of the enraged dragon going to make war on all of those “who obey God’s commandments and hold to the testimony of Jesus.”

The war rages. The dragon who tried to devour Mary’s baby still seeks to devour and destroy. He wants to abolish all good. He wants to devastate orphans. He wants them to starve and despair and die. But the child who was snatched to heaven is strong. We are right to put our hope in him as we join the battle.

The Little Girl is just a children’s story, a simple tale of an abandoned baby girl in China, the man who finds and adopts her, and the hero from heaven whose protection covers her whole life. But behind the story is the battle between the dragon and the angels, overshadowed by the victory of the Child King. We trust the Lord will use it to expand his kingdom of light and push away darkness in whatever way He sees fit.

Joyful Christmas to you all!

Kristin for all the Wongs
